Ceramic

Porcelain

Porcelain is a type of ceramic tile made from a finer clay and fired at a higher temperature, making it a more durable material than ceramic. Porcelain tiles can be used on the wall or the floor, and because porcelain has such a high density it is a good choice for high traffic areas. When purchasing porcelain tiles you have a choice between a variety of finishes including matte, polished, textured, satin, or patterned.

Glass

Glass tiles can be a clear transparent; a shimmer translucent, or a shiny opaque. There is a wide range of glass finishes; glossy, satin, luminous, and matte. You can also choose a metallic finish which is created by dusting metal particles onto the surface of the glass during manufacturing. We will lend you a sample of the glass tile that you are considering so that you can see how the light reflective qualities affect the atmosphere in your home.

Handcrafted

Handcrafted tile refers to tile that is made without the use of modern mass production machinery. Each handcrafted tile is carefully created, and therefore each tile is unique, adding beauty and value. Often handcrafted tiles are created by using antique beehive kilns, historic glaze recipes, and traditional techniques. For example, craftsmen may hand press clay into wooden molds. Hand molded tiles have irregular edges, corners and surfaces.

Hand painted tiles offer variations in color, shading, and design, these characteristics are what create their appeal. You can also purchase ceramic tiles that have pressed designs, such as pressed leaves or flowers.
